BELCARRA SAYS "THANK YOU" TO ROSEMARY & MIKE COTTON
On June 11th, Council said "thank you" to Rosemary and Mike Cotton on behalf of Belcarra residents for their many years of community service. After 20 years of calling Belcarra "home", Rosemary and Mike are moving to Westbank to be closer to their daughter Nancy, her husband Russ Coughlan, and eight-month-old grandson Reid who live in Kelowna. They were presented with an aerial photograph of Belcarra.
Rosemary & Mike Cotton – June 11, 2001
Mike and Rosemary bought their Marine Avenue property from Loyd Bussey in 1972 for $32,000 , started to build in 1978, and moved into their new house in 1982. Mike served on Belcarra Council for two terms from 1987 to 1990, and was responsible for the creation of the Belcarra sign at the entrance to the Village. In addition, over the past 10 years Mike has served as Chair of the Board of Variance, a Coordinator for Belcarra's award-winning Block Watch Program, and actively participated on Belcarra's Protective Services and Treaty Advisory Committees. Mike is also well known as one of the authors of "Between Forest & Sea: Memories of Belcarra". Rosemary has been a dedicated team member with the Belcarra Barnacle since moving to Belcarra in 1982!
On behalf of all Belcarra residents, we thank Rosemary and Mike for their many contributions to our community, and offer our best wishes as they begin their new adventures in Westbank.
